When life gives you lemons... Lighten your hair!

Hi everyone!
So I had heard about how you could lighten your hair with lemons and yesterday I decided to give it a shot!

      You will need:
  • Lemons
  • Juicer
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Sunshine
  • Towel
 Now, here's what you do:
Firstly, you need to decide how many lemons you will need to use
for short hair, 1-2 lemons
for medium hair, 2-3 lemons
for long hair 3-4 lemons

Next, you juice your lemons

Remove any seeds/bits and pour the juice into a bowl then add some water until there is enough of the mixture to cover your hair (I used 4 tablespoons) Be careful not to dilute it too much or else the mixture won't be strong enough to lighten your hair!

After you have done that, pour the mixture over your hair covering from root to tip. I went outside for this step and I wore a towel around my shoulders.

Then all you have to do if sit out in the sun until your hair is dry! When it does dry completely I washed my hair and let it dry naturally! Easy Peasy!

Then all you have to do is enjoy your new lightened hair :)

My hair before:

My hair after:

So as you can see, there is a noticible difference! I'm really happy with the results and it is supposed to last for a little more than a month.

Hope you enjoyed,

Until next time...
Laura :)

*This method mightn't work on everyone, but it's worth a try! You would get better results if you have blonde/light brown hair.*

The 8 Week No Heat Challenge!

I have decided to take on the 8 week no heat challenge. This entails using absolutely no heat on your hair for 8 whole weeks.
My hopes are that by the end of the challenge, my hair won't be damaged, and that it will also be longer and in better condition. I have started by trimming my hair by half an inch.
To help me along, I am going to use hair growth shampoo, eat food that encourages hair growth and I am going to take hair supplements.

At the moment, my hair is 38cm from root to tip and it reaches just around my armpits.

(This picture is of my hair when it's wet, because it's hard to tell how long it is when it dries)

(my hair when dry)

I will be doing a more detailed post about the products I am using and the food I am eating.

Until next time...

LBD: Little Black Dress

 LBD: A wardrobe essential

Yesterday, I picked up this LBD in H&M for only €14.95 I love it!

This dress has inspired me to do a post on LBD's and why every girl should own one!

An LBD or Little Black Dress is a wardrobe must have. It is so versatile and can be used for nearly every occasion. You can forever rely on your LBD it is a really timeless piece of clothing and it will never go out of style.
Imagine your little black dress as a blank canvas, you can dress it down or up depending your age, the event or your mood. For example, paired with a jacket or flats for daytime or with more ornate jewellery and accessories for evening time. There are so many different shapes and styles of LBD's so you're sure to find one that suits you.

Jewellery and shoes are the easiest way of transforming your little black dress. Your options are endless, but you can guarantee that it is the most reliable thing in your wardrobe and you will always find yourself going back to it.

Some LBD quotes:

You can wear black at any time.
You can wear it at any age.
You may wear it to almost any occasion.
A little black frock is essential to a woman's wardrobe.”
-Christian Dior-

The black dress is the embodiment of women's power. It's very stark, direct, and to the point.”
-Alexander Mc Queen-

Swimsuit guide for you body shape!

This week was the 65th anniversary of the bikini, so I thought I would do a post on finding swimwear for your body shape!

If you're unsure about your body shape click here

So there are 4 main body types: apple, pear, hourglass, and athletic.
If you are apple shaped, most of your weight is on your stomach and your legs are slim. You would have a top-heavy appearance.
Swimwear for you... you should show off your slim legs, you can make them look longer by wearing high waisted bikini bottoms, as for the top, tankini's are best they will cover your stomach and by choosing prints and darker colours, you will look even slimmer.

If you are pear shaped your chest and shoulders would be narrower than your waist. Most of  your weight would be below your waistline. You would have a defined waist.
Swimwear for you... you should try to slim down your bottom half and create curves on the top half.
For your upper half, you should try bright colours to draw attention to your upper half. As for the bottom, try darker colours to create a slim look, this will also give you slimmer looking legs.

If you are hourglass shaped your waist will be more defined while your chest and hips will be of the same ratio.
Swimwear for you... Really any type of swimsuit, bikini or tankini will suit you! But if you want to define your curves, wear swimwear that is matching or the one colour, but other than that, you can wear what you want!

If you are athletic shaped you would be pretty much the same measurements from shoulders to hips. You are slender in most parts.
Swimwear for you... you can create curves with bold colours, halternecks also create curves. you could try padded bikini tops and you could also try frills as they also create curves.

I hope that helped! Be confident whatever your shape! Happy shopping!

Until next time...

Product Review: Nivea Tinted Moisturiser

I'm just doing a quick overview of Nivea Visage Tinted Moisturiser Day Cream in the colour natural (50ml) available from Boots around €7 or €8

What they say: Moisturiser 24h, evens skintone for a healthy looking complexion. With light reflecting pigments, Hydramine & Vitamin E.

What I say: This tinted moisturiser gives medium coverage, looks very natural, is for all skin types gives your skin a lovely dewy glow and it evens out any imperfections. The only bad things I have to say about this product is that it is a little hard to apply (it gets easier with practice!) and it doesn't have SPF. But overall this is a good product for the price and it does what it says it does.

Until next time...

Rosso Solini: What's your opinion?

I recently came across an article in the paper related to Rosso Solini. If you have never heard of it, basically it is a company that has been set up by an Irish teenager, the company (Rosso Solini) has designed a product that will transform any high street high heel, into a designer red soled shoe. The product is a red sticker that can be applied in less than 3 minutes, making your shoes look like authentic Christian Louboutin's! A box  of 3 pairs of stickers cost  €15, the red stickers can be bought at http://www.rossosolini.com/ all contact details and further information is on the website.
I personally think that this is a great idea, especially coming from somebody so young. I wish Tara and her company the best of luck :)
Leave a comment below to let me know whether you love/loathe this idea!

Until next time...

Different Body Shapes

Everybody is a different shape. There are four main female body shapes. The different body shapes are:
Banana/Boyish: Boyish shapes have the same size bust and hips, with an undefined waist. Boyish figures usually have a small or medium sized bust. Most boyish shapes are usually slim.
Apple: apple shaped women have broader shoulders and narrower hips, Apple shaped women tend to have slim legs/thighs and the chest and abdomen look out of proportion compared to the rest of the body. Fat is usually distributed to the abdomen, chest and face.
Pear: The hips are wider than the bust. Pear shaped women tend to have (usually) larger bottoms and thighs. Fat is usually distributed i the buttocks, hips and thighs.
Hourglass: The hips and bust are almost of equal size, with a narrower waist. Fat tends to be distributed to the arms chest, hips, bottom (so usually around the upper and lower body)

10 Wardrobe Essentials

These are 10 items that I think should be in every girls wardrobe:
  • Little Black Dress: The LBD is a versatile dress that can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. The style of the dress should be as simple as possible. For daytime it should be worn with a jacket and pumps and for evening, complete the look with high heels and accessories.

  • Jeans: Everybody needs a good pair of jeans, you should invest in your jeans as they will last for years. Jeans are so versatile, they can be casual/dressy. Good jeans can be hard to find, but take your time, and make sure those jeans are right for you. (remember to buy your jeans a little snug as they can expand with wear)

  • Leather Jacket: A short leather jacket is versatile, paired with jeans or a casual dress, the leather jacket is the perfect option to pull together stylish, yet casual outfits. Always make sure your jacket fits well and comes to just below your wrist bone.

  • Dressy Trousers: A well made pair of dress trousers are very versatile and go with most things in your wardrobe. Dressy trousers look best with a smart shirt and cardigan. Both heels and pups go great with these trousers.

  • Cardigan: There are many ways to incorporate a cardigan into your outfits. A cardigan can be dressed down or up. Cardigans go with dresses, jeans, skirts and dressy pants. I think the vest colours to have are black, grey and white, and after the basics you can add reds, yellows, pinks, purples, whatever you like.

  • Trench Coat: The classic khaki trench coat is suitable for day or evening wear. The belt tie is great at cinching in the waist. Again the trench coat can be worn with skirts, jeans, the list is endless. With a trench coat any outfit looks polished and chic!

  • White Shirt: There are many different styles of white shirts, all of which are a great wardrobe essential. Goes with jeans, skirts (knee length/full) or dress pants, the possibilities are endless. Layer/accessorise to your liking.

  • Wrap Dress: Very versatile, every wardrobe should have 1 or 2 wrap dresses. A wrap dress can be worn so many different ways, casual/dressy. Go get yourself one now! (wrap dresses are also very slimming and good at hiding bulges!)

  • Nautical Top: Isn't often mentioned as an essential, but a nautical top can make the simplest of outfits look chic and effortless. This top looks great with a pair of jeans and flats. If it's cold wear with a trench or cardigan.
  • Blouse: Whether your blouse is short sleeved, long sleeved or sleeveless, they are a wardrobe must have. team with jeans, skirts or layer them with cardigans/jackets. You can wear them again and again knowing that they are casual or dressy, it's up to you!

Hope you enjoyed....

Eyeshadow Palette

I have been looking for a compact eyeshadow palette with a good variety of colours, I picked up this palette in the Boots sale. It was originally €10 but I got it for half price! Bargain! It is made by FCUK. I had never tried anything from this range before so I didn't know what to expect. I was extremely surprised to find the eyeshadows very pigmented. Very good quality for something so cheap. All in all there are 18 eyeshadows, 6 lip colours and a double ended applicator in the palette. I am delighted with this purchase and will be looking out for more FCUK products!

Until next time...
